The annual Japanese Illumination Art Festival (和のあかり×百段階段2018) is held at Hotel Gajoen Tokyo in Meguro. The event features over 1,000 works of traditional Japanese arts and crafts with a focus on light and illumination. We are lucky enough to be part of the 2018 show running between July 7th and September 2nd, 2018.
We were absolutely thrilled to be asked to display our jewelry pieces in this unique art festival. The building features an impressive Japanese-Western architectural space that has inspired the likes of Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away. It’s hard not to be transported into a different time and space when exploring the many staircases and rooms of this building which has been dubbed as a Cultural Property of Tokyo.
With such an inspiring space acting as the backdrop for our work, we knew we needed to create a piece that would pay tribute to Japanese culture and landscape. Inspired by the majestic Mount Fuji, our craftsmen created a special ring specifically for this event which was then sold as a limited edition item on our site. FUJI (富士山), is our resin and wood ring featuring this iconic mountain volcano.
